In this trilogy, The Lake District becomes Roger’s home. I spent a few weeks last year close to his former cottage which was a two minute walk from the picture above. He often went hand in hand with two women simultaneously and together they would wine and dine at luxury establishments. Meanwhile I went walking, swimming and cooking for myself.

As much as I didn’t like him, I did my best to get under his skin and to understand him. He believed that he was a victim from traditional thinking and with his wealth he enjoyed manipulating young women into his world.

It was a strange experience getting inside my sleeping bag and imaging myself; as a male who hated the human race yet wanted to procreate profusely. In turn I got inside Roger’s world and had nightmares.

Although I have never studied law, I felt that I had written plausibly about this lawyer. Even so, it came as a big shock for me when I went swimming and a lady looked at me and had this to say. ”Excuse me, can I ask you a question?” She asked me politely. ”Yes, you can.” I replied. ”Are you a lawyer?’ She asked me.

Several years later, Peter is raped by Sarah – Roger’s mother – for her to conceive him and to fill a void in her lonely depraved world. As a law student, Roger spends one year at Lancaster University. For him, England is a contemptuous country. He enjoys dismissing Wordsworth as some sanctimonious hypocrite who fathered an illegitimate child in France. As a lawyer, he was well aware of the evil taking place around him in the family courts, but he couldn’t control his lust for power and money. In turn, he goes beyond control on his path to power and is asked by one of the New World Order’s henchmen to be part of something that is, even for him, beyond the pale.He maintains a close bond with his mother.
